"LOOK AT THEM YO-YO, THAT'S THE WAY YOU DO IT. YOU PLAY THE GUITAR ONB THE MTV."

Listeing to: Money for Nothing- Dire Straits

So I recently found out that the beautiful Charlotte from Charlotte C nominated me for the Liebster adward.

A massive thank you to Charlotte! The following is what I copied from her blog explaining it all and I am so overwhelmingly touched and super happy/excited about this! I have been looking for a reason/suitible platform to share a littlle more about myself so here is my chance.

The Liebster Blog Award is given to upcoming bloggers who have less than 200 followers. The Meaning; Liebster is German and means sweetest, kindest, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing and welcome.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:

1. Each person must post 11 things about themselves
2. Answer the questions the tagger has set for you plus create 11 questions for the people you've tagged to answer.
3. Choose 11 people and link them in your post.
4. Go to their page and tell them.
5. Remember, no tag backs!

So here it goes...

11 things about me...
  1.  I'm a student nurse and nursing is my  main passhion in life. I  don't do it because of the money/hours/status I do it beacuse I love the mix of human interaction and caring and the intellegence/ constant learning involved. I can talk for hours about  any aspect of nursing- from giving a bed bath to ops. I love it! I don't really get the nuses who qualify and go straight into community nurrsing/ homes/ outpatients- its just too dull!
  2. I'm 22 and still live at home- you CANNOT fully suppoort yourself as a student nurse and I choose a car (so I can actually get to work without a 3 1/2 hour round trip) over a flat.
  3. I'm vegertarian and haven't ate meat since I was 6 and fish since I was 9. I don't (to my knowledge) eat anything with animal products in it that is not eggs, dairy or honey.
  4. I hate pastry and mash potato and mayonasie gives me a headache- but other than that I will happily eat any veggie food.
  5. I have a twin sister and an older sister. We are close but very very differnt in what we like.
  6. I love DIY and alter a lot of my clothes- not just because I like to change how they look but I have a very big bust (32G) so struggle to find clothes that would fit.
  7. I mostly shop in charity shops, I like gettting clothes that are a bit different and if you know youre not going to find somehitng that fits perfectly you might as well get something for a couple of pounds from a charity shop. Also i like the feeling I'm helping the community so I dontae everything I no longer wear as well.
  8. I have this overwhelming feeling that I am actually an Amozonian Goddess and as such have  a massive sense of self confidence in my abilities and think I can achieve anything. This is why I started the blog.
  9. I think that every women has thiss level of power in her- and just needs a bit of help letting it all out.
  10. I have a tattoo of a moon on my wrist as a symbol of my Goddess power- I have been known to point it out to patients when they are being difficult. I don't think they believe I'm a Goddess but its a easy way to distract the situation. I have 4 other tattoos.
  11. I love my boyfriend- he is supportive of not only me and incredibly talented, but just fantastic. I tell him I hate him more than I love him, and we have far from a normal relationship- but I love him.
Charlottes 11 questions...
  1. Sweet or savoury?
Savoury. Although it hasn't always been that way, until I went on a very strict diet I would have said it was about equal (although I have always preferred naturally sweet fodd such as fruit to sweets).
  2. Three things that irritate you?
When medical people presume that what I say is irrelevant/ wrong/ not worth the time because I'm relitivly young and still a student- besides that fact I read and throw myself into situations to learn so my opinins are backed up by facts and evidene rather than the excuse "this is they ways its done". I'm not stupid- just because I have trouble expressing what I'm trying to say doesn't mean I'm saying the wrong thing, actually give me a chance and listen. (I follow htis when ever anyone else is trying to speak- part of nursing both as a  qualified and student is that you undertake a role to teach/mentor others so I try to take on everyones point of view and actually listen to others. Its a vital part of teaching and leadership).
People presuming that because I'm a vegetarian that I have a master plan to convert everyone else and actually enjoy people arguing with me, even thouugh I generally don't mention it unless I'm offfered non-veggie food and they ask. I don't care if anyone eats meat or not- just don;t touch my plate/ me. (I also hate it when people take food off my plate when I'm eating).
If you have read my previous post you would know I get a fair few stare/ comments from others for my awkward sense of style- and it irritates me how narrow minded people can be.
  3. When are you at your happiest?
Eating biscuits with Chris and a clean Dylan.
  4. Proudest moment/achievement to date?
Getting into uni to do nursing without any exam or interview- I just rang up and was offered a place over the phone. They loved me.
  5. Something you wear everyday
My body jewellery- Nose stud, 8mm stretch lobes, black curved barbel in my rook, black labet in my tragus and barbel  in my smilie. I also have small silver hoops in my second holes in my lobes 80% of the time.
Clothing wise I don't wear anything eveyday other than knickers- can't leave the house with out my undies.
  6. Describe your style in three words
I don't know..... I would love to know what you guys think.
  7. Are you a tea drinker or a coffee drinker?
Tea- either strong (NOT left to brew) with 1/3 teaspoon of sugar and a tiny splash of milk, or black. Or herbal tea of all flavours.
  8. What would you most like to do if money weren't a problem?
Job wise- I'll still be a nurse, life wise I would like to travel the world (although I still plan to do this it will just take longer then I would like)
  9. What is the first thing you do in the morning?
Turn my alarm on snooze 3 or 4 times, then have a wash and clean my teeth.
  10. What is the last thing you do at night?
Either check I have set my alarm or go for a wee.
  11. What was the last film you watched?
    Kindergarden cop.
My 11 questions...
  1. Favorite food?
  2. What do you think is the best/ most appealing part of your blogging style?
  3. Who are your top 5 bloggers?
  4. What do you like least about other bloggers?
  5. Describe your style.
  6. What do you wear every day? Be it clothing, hair or makeup?
  7. What is your favorite item of clothing and beauty prodict?
  8. What do you love about your style that no one else understands?
  9. What do you hate about fashion that everyone else loves?
  10. A genie gives you 3 wishes- what do you wish for?
  11. Why did you start blogging? and what is the story behind your name?

"RIDIN' DOWN A HIGHWAY, GOIN' TO A SHOW".

Listening to: It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock And Roll)- AC/DC

I've been toying with the idea of putting my hair in a neat top bun for a while now, and yesterday I finally went through with it- all thanks to a photo Kelly Osbourne put on twitter (that girl is an absolute babe and cannot do a thing wrong). I can't stress enough how neat my top bun is- I carefully pulled and clipped it back to avoid that messy I-just-got-out-of-bed-and-look-like-I-should-go-back-to-the-bush-I-walked-through-and-hide top buns. Everyone seems to wear them but I just don't have a clue why anyone would think they look good. I really hope my hair looks as neat and pretty in these photos as it did in real life.

 Cut-out tunic: Topshop
Cardigan: Primark
Earrings: Topshop
Bag: gift
Socks: Primark
Shoes: American Eagle- but actually bought from a charity shop.

I wore this outfit to go shopping for holiday clothes with my sister- but not only did we leave pretty much empty handed (I only bought flip flops!) but she also left in a bit of a mood. Not for anything either of us done but because people would not stop looking at me. I mean people quite often stare, and I get a fair few comments but I suppose I have got used to it in the last few years- where my sister has not, and as such all hell was let loose. The comments she passed when ever someone looked at me/ passed comments was hilarious! and shouted it as close to people faces as possible.

Although I do realise I am far from fashionable- and my style is far from normal- but I always felt I looked good. Now I'm  not sure if I deserve the looks/comments or not. I would be lying if i said that this experience has lead me to go through some sort of image change; as I don't want to- I like what I wear and the image I try to throw out (thick eyebrows and all)- and I honestly would not know where to start.

I guess I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

"IF YOU'RE GONNA PLAY WITH FIRE THEN YOU'RE GONNA GET BURNED".

Listening to: Friday Night- Lily Allen

This is what I wore on fathers day last weekend but completely forgot to post as a) I was having such a great time and b) the week from hell had started. (My skin seems to look so many different shades in these photos but I think the last is a true match- or as true as it can be. I am no way near as tanned as in the full body photos).

 Velvet shirt: eBay
Necklace: gift from Chris
Rings: Topman (skull) and Primark (deer)
Tights: Primark
Bag: Gift
Hot pants: BooHoo
Earrings: No idea -had them for quite a few years and I refer to them as my Lily Allen earrings
Plimsolls: No idea

I'm still in love with my legs so couldn't help show them off in these Boohoo shorts (although at first I had fishnet tights underneath but thought I looked completely wrong) and I LOVE these plimsolls. I know they are what you hopefully remember wearing to primary school (and probably hated); with their strange burnt smell, and how if they get a tiny bit wet become like ice skates. Everyone must of had them! and like me hated them at the time but I feel in love with them when I was about 14 or 15 and just can't stop wearing them! To be honest they are not long wearing in the slightest (must be why we was never allowed to wear them outside the classroom) and usually only last me about 2 months (3 in winter) but I just love them! they are so easy to were.

I always feel a lot more youthful when I wear them- to be honest people do take the piss quite a bit; but its was the perfect staple to wear for an outing to Top Golf with my dad and family (which I won the girls match!).

Does anyone else have something in their wardrobe they wear to death and re-buy? Or wear something everyone else just doesn't understand your attraction to? Or own a pair of these plimsolls?

"EVERYY DAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS"

Listening to: Every Day I Love You Less and Less

If you follow me on twitter or befriended me on facebook you would know that at the moment I am on placement and I absolutly HATE it!

Don't get me wrong the staff are lovely andd the patients are brilliant- but ability and experience wise it is far lacking to what I feel I deserve. In short I know its wrong but I feel so much better than what I've been given (my personal skills and experience combined with my own strange sort of drive to "be the best I can be" results in being gererally bored and depressed by the whole experience) and as I was forced to go on this placement due to the unis error I feel absolutly cheated. I hate going there inthe morning- I spend all mu breaks in my car as I can't stand to be in the building any longer than I have to, and I hate its taking away time I could be better sppent working/ job hunting/ genaerally having a good time.

If I ever mention in future that I wish to work in any sort of care/ nursing home- shot me as I have clearly lost my mind. Also seriously harm me if I mention I would like to work in either the communtiy of a GP practice or outpatient as well- 3 other settings that I feel like I would only be cutting myself a VERY short deal in working. I'm sorry there is a lot of very good nurses that love that work (there is also a lot of awful nurses who do it just because its an easy job- namely the majority of newly qualified nurses I met that went/ planned to go straight into community nursing because "it pays well and you get evenings and weekends off and you only have to do simple wound dressings"- but its just not for me. I want to be renowned in my field, I want a PHD in nursing and to have consultants queueing up for my opinion. I want to teach and be published and generally be the best nurse both clinically (which to be honest I already am a FANTASTIC nurse) and intellectually I can be.

Combine my hatred of work with my mysterious 'illness' and the utter incompetence of my GP practise to make a referral I've had an awful week. But the one thing keeping me going is Blogging. I know I've been awful in that I haven't posted anything (sorry sorry sorry) but I can't express how heartwarming the comments I have received have been. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! I promise to be a better blogger again and post a LOT more frequently, and reply to comments a lot quicker- thank you for all sticking with me.

I had a rare chance to escape for a  few moments last night and went to a pub quiz (which my team won!) and here very poor sun blinded picture of what I wore (its really an awful photo but after being the worse girlfriend in the world all week I didn't want to push Chris for more photos).

Disco pants dupes: Ark Clothing
Velvet Shirt: eBay
Bag: Gift (from Australia)
Creepers: Camden
Collar chain: YMCA
Shark tooth necklace: Bournemouth Aquarium.

This  was the first outing in my Disco  pant dupes I bought from ark clothing; and I have to say that I really really like them! I've been lusting over a pair of American Apparel Disco pants for a while (so many blogger own them but they really look amazing!) but could not justify the price. These Arkclothing pair are a very very good dupe (and in fact fit my body shape better than the AA ones). I honestly hope my photo does them justice.

"THERE'S A LADY WHO'S SURE ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD".

Listening to: Stairway to Heaven- Led Zeppelin

Sorry guys I haven't posted all week- and taken a bit of time to reply to all your lovely comments on my last post. I'm so glad you all like my DIY and I've found so many new blogs to follow- whoop!

As you're all aware I work full time as a health care assistant training as a nurse, and usually I have some free time but this week I'm afraid I haven't used it wisely. Today I'm visiting a friend I a haven't seen in months then coming home to do a DIY (so watch out for the post soon); but my free time in the rest of the week has been used on several GP and hospital appointments :(

As I've mentioned before I've suffered from near constant nausea for the last year- and in the week I saw a very kind Gastric consultant, had two ultrasounds and saw the consultant again- and the conclusion is.... Hes referring me to a gynaecologist so now I'm just doing the typical nurse thing of imagining 1001 different possibilities of what it could be.

Anyway this is what I wore as yesterday for a trip to Chelmsford in my boyfriends effort to cheer me up (he succeeded).

Dress: H&M
Lace shirt: Charity shop
Bag: River Island
Socks: Primark
Boots: Topshop
Necklace: eBay

Despite how crazy the weather is Essex was (one second it was sunny then rain then sun again) I got out my legs. I'm not ashamed to say I have some fantastic legs- from a working life of being constantly running about and naturally quite fidgety they have always been effortlessly toned; although they are very pale. I felt good with having them out on this rare occasion.

Does anyone else have a part of their body they love?

"WE CAN HAVE SOME MORE, NATURE IS A WHORE".

Listening to: in Bloom- Nirvana.

Check out my beautiful new addition to my wardrobe- a leather studded patched knitted jumper!!

This DIY was inspired by a Trip to Oxford street Topshop where I saw a beauty by the Ragged Priest its a real beauty so I would strongly suggest if you're not DIY inclined I would check this jumper out.

I feel ill with the thought of real leather so close to my face- I can't stand stand the smell and the feel. I really don't know why I don't like it, we even have a pair of leather sofas in our living room I have never sat on because the though of it makes me feel ill. I know I'm a little strange and I can cope with leather shoes but not close to my face. SO the only solution was to make my own.  My DIY is similar but where as that was real worn vintage leather (that looks very soft and fab) this is faux leather, NONE of it is vintage, and I wanted MASSIVE shoulders on my jumper.

This DIY is very, very easy! I managed this in just a few short hours- although was hard at first as I don't have the arm strength to bend back the prongs and it took me a while to think of using a penny to help bend them.

My jumper was  from the YMCA, leather from Hobby craft ad the studs where from Studs & Punks (which I strongly recommend).

I simply cut out two oval shapes, pushed through a handful of studs and stitched them onto the jumpers shoulders.

So what do you guys think?

"GLACIERS MELTING IN THE DEAD OF NIGHT".

Listening to: Super Massive Black Hole- Muse.

Floating around the house getting ready to go out, my nan came in to tell me about how my dog is getting on. He stays with my nan when my parents go away so he doesn't get lonely as me and my sister both do shift work; and today they 'lost' him. after several years of having to barricade every whole in the fence- they let there guard down for once and he got stuck behind the shed, they didn't find him for a good half hour of looking though because hes the sort of dog that NEVER barks.

Although I was alone planning on leaving the house my nan seemed to think this was all I was going to wear....

My nan is such an amazing woman I love the comments she comes out with, it makes me realise where I get some of my craziness from.

Although I LOVE this body suit from Motel Rocks- it fits perfectly and a really high quality, I would not go out in just this some tights and a pair of creepers, however amazing she said I looked. But I still have to share it with you as I do feel AMAZING in it.

This is what I actually left the house in...

Lace maxi dress: Topshop- but bought off eBay
Tights and cardigan: Priamrk
Creepers: Camden
Bag: River Island
Necklace: Chris.

I wore an outfit very similar to this last week when I still had black hair and I can't explain how different the stares I was getting today. I get stared at a lot (and I always have and probably always will, I'm not sure if its just the town I  live in or they way I carry myself but I've got used to it) but where last week it was a 50/50 mix of people admiring my outfit and backing away in shops (a woman dragged her young son away from staring at me in Topshop); there was next to no backing away today- my hair has definitely made me more approachable. I like this.

Chris kindly bought me another necklace- I honestly have no idea where he finds things like this, or why I deserve to  be spoilt like this but I'm very grateful. I'm not the sort of person who likes to be spoilt, I'm a very 'pay your own way' when we go on dates ect. but he picks out such simple but beautiful things he knows I like and I can't get over how well he knows me.

"THE INDIANS SEND SIGNALS FROM THE ROCKS ABOVE THE PASS".

Listening to: Squeeze- Cool For Cats.

So after a busy weekend celebrating my mums birthday at Prezzos I feel knackered. I have never been to Prezzos before and was MASSIVELY surprised. From the way my family spoke about it I was expecting that the only veggie thing on the menu would be salad or a watery tomato pasta- but there was a a huge amount of choice! I ended up sharing a pizza bread garlic thing with Chris, some olives with my my sister and brother-in-law and this very tasty Mushroom filled pasta with a pesto sauce (I love pesto) which my carnivore boyfriend made the mistake of trying and agreed it was amazing and wanted it for himself (I need to learn that although its nice to expand Chris horizons I hate sharing food).

Lace Bodysuit: Primark
Bra: Ann Summers
Jeans: Topshop
Belt: New Look
Bag: River Island
Coat: eBay
Necklace: from Chris.

This is what I wore very hungover post celebrations (too much wine and cocktails and champers!) and I love every time. Ann summers bras are probably the best invention in the world- they are by far the most comfortable and supportive I have ever bought, and they go up to my size which is a rarity; and these Topshop jeans are so high cut that (although not high waisted) they come up my hips so I'm not worried about flashing any bum (or I mean is crack) what when I bend over. But far my  favourite piece is the rose amethyst necklace I'm wearing from Chris. My mother called it tacky but that is exactly what I like- he has fantastic taste; and rose amethyst symbolises love.

Even though I broke with tradition for once and didn't work the bank holiday weekend I feel knackered! but did enjoy the 4 days i had off infecting everyone I met with a cold, which although I'm finding manageable is reducing family members to missing work. They better get quick before the weekend because if you don't go to work they wont be going out to play at the weekend! I can't wait for work to be over tomorrow! I have LOTS of DIY items planned (after receiving some supplies in the post today) and a visit to Hobbycraft Saturday now all my bills are out of the way for the month. I can't wait!

"LIVING IS EASY WITH EYES CLOSED, MISUNDERSTANDING ALL YOU SEE."

Listening to: Strawberry Fields Forever- The Beatles.

Hay guys- I know I haven't blogged in a few days but I'm still alive just been massively busy! In two weeks I undertake my last placement fora month and I'm trying to save up enough beforehand so I'm not working 16 hour days all month (as I do need sleep!).

But on a positive note- I have awesome new hair!

I think I mentioned previously that I would never bleach my hair again- but I haven't! MY HAIR HAS GONE BLACK TO COPPER WITHOUT BLEACH! Using a exclusive product called SOS. My sister is a Wella colour expert (with a masters in colour technician- which basically means shes super awesome) and her salon was offered the product to trial on clients; and being a fantastic sister I volunteered as guinea pig. It basically removes an artificial colour from hair (so in my case black) to lighten, and although its not yet available salon wide (and will only be available in salons as it takes training and expertise of hair in my opinion- and from experience from other users in my sisters salon) I'm sure it will be soon. Its important to add that this was after one application (I have always wanted copper hair so this was enough for me) but depending on your hair condition/colourants on the hair it will lighten in different shades, and as its super gentle on hair you can have more than one application. It didn't touch my roots at all (which are blond so had to be dyed copper) and felt as gentle as shampoo- it really is an amazing product.

I really can't express how much respect I have for this product (I've already recommended it to friends) but I LOVE it!

I decided that it was time for a total change so I've ditched the fringe (it only got in  my way at work) growing out the undercut and gone for a centre parting. What do you guys think of my new hair?
